TAMA began manufacturing drums in 1965 under the name “Star Drums”, and Star continues to be used in the names of TAMA’s drum models to this day. TAMA was one of the first manufacturers to offer super heavy-duty hardware, and drum mounting systems that did not intrude into the shell. TAMA’s drums and hardware are world renowned as among the best available. With the Imperialstar Series, TAMA sought to design an affordable yet durable kit that retained many of the high-end features found in the Silverstar, Superstar, and Starclassic lines. Every aspect of the modern drum kit was exhaustively examined, reexamined, and then improved before it was accepted as part of the Imperialstar design. Imperialstar shells are made from six plies of solid poplar, known for its quick decay and full-bodied tone. Precision bearing edges enhance sensitivity, tuning range, and resonance. Each Imperialstar kit comes with a fast and smooth Iron Cobra 200 kick pedal and Stage Master stands.
